AI Software Engineer (Analytical Agents) Hybrid

CiscoSan Jose, CA
$152,500 - $252,000Hybrid

About The Position

Join Cisco’s Enterprise AI team, the core group enabling Generative AI powered experiences across Cisco. Our mission is to build secure, scalable AI platforms that empower teams to safely develop, deploy, and operationalize AI-powered solutions. We operate at the intersection of applied AI, cloud infrastructure and security - partnering across engineering, security, compliance, and product teams to bring trusted AI to life at an enterprise scale. We are a fast-growing, highly collaborative team of platform engineers, AI engineers, and data scientists who value technical depth, ownership, and pragmatic execution. What makes this team exciting is the opportunity to define how secure Generative AI is built and governed inside a global technology leader. In this role, you will be the architect of our analytical agent ecosystem, leveraging LangGraph and LLMs to transform legacy data into predictive business intelligence. You will directly influence how Cisco measures success by building the next generation of autonomous, metrics-driven agents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in Python development and SQL (complex queries and data modeling).
  • Proven experience building GenAI applications using LangGraph, LangChain, or similar agentic frameworks.
  • Demonstrated expertise in advanced prompting and LLM performance evaluation.
  • Strong technical writing skills with a commitment to documenting code, APIs, and model logic.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience migrating legacy BI reporting (e.g., PowerBI) to modern AI-driven analytical platforms.
  • Knowledge of GCP-based data tools (e.g., BigQuery).
  • Strong understanding of statistical modeling for predictive analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy autonomous analytical agents using LangGraph and advanced prompting to migrate our department from legacy PowerBI insights to predictive/prescriptive analytics.
  • Develop agents capable of autonomously leveraging SQL to extract and manipulate large-scale datasets, standardizing the tracking of Daily Active (DAU) and Weekly Active (WAU) users.
  • Architect "agentic" solutions that move beyond simple chat to proactive, prescriptive actions based on real-time data and historical trends.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for AI agent logic, prompt engineering strategies, and data schemas to ensure team alignment and scalability.
  • Implement prompt analysis metrics and predictive models to evaluate the effectiveness and accuracy of LLM interactions across our agent fleet.
  • Build observability dashboards to visualize common feature usage, operational performance parameters, and the health of the analytical agents.
