About The Position

Huawei Canada has an immediate permanent opening for an AI Software Developer. The Smart Grid Technology Lab focuses on research in real-time simulation technologies, microgrid energy management, control systems, and other smart grid technologies. We apply cutting-edge technologies to the digital power industry. The lab has developed into a research organization with significant achievements and a strong impact in the industry. This role involves designing and developing AI tools and applications for smart grid and energy management systems, integrating machine learning models into real-world software platforms, and building scalable backend services and APIs for data processing, analysis, and control. The developer will collaborate with researchers to translate algorithms into deployable solutions, work with large-scale data from simulations, sensors, and energy systems, and contribute to system architecture, performance optimization, and deployment.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, and/or C++
• Experience with machine learning and up-to-date AI frameworks.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals (data structures, system design, APIs)
• Experience building production-level applications
• Proficiency in English is essential

• Basic understanding of power systems or smart grid concepts
