AI Research Scientist, MRS Knowledge
About The Position
The AI Research Scientist, MRS Knowledge, conducts novel research and develops advanced machine learning models, particularly in large language models and recommendation systems. The work advances content and user understanding, retrieval, and ranking, with deliverables intended to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and personalization of recommendations across Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and other platforms. The role advances AI research and development to support Meta’s business growth, improve user experiences, and enable scalable solutions for Meta’s customers and people.
Requirements
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience; the degree must be completed before joining Meta.
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related technical field.
- Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment by the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working and communicating cross-functionally in a team environment.
- Experience applying reinforcement learning techniques to production-scale systems.
- Experience in ranking, recommendation, or auction systems.
- A track record of significant results demonstrated through grants, fellowships, patents, or publications at leading workshops, journals, or conferences.
- Prior work bridging academic research and real-world applications.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate on and execute research that advances the state of the art in large language model research.
- Contribute directly to experiments by designing experimental details, running evaluations, and organizing results.
- Contribute to publications and open-sourcing efforts.
- Help identify long-term research goals and intermediate milestones.
- Prioritize research with potential application to Meta product development.
