Location: 4 on-site days a week in Sunnyvale, CA Headquarters. Our Team's Vision: Illumio’s Marketing organization is investing deeply in AI to elevate how we plan, communicate, and execute. We’re looking for an AI Specialist who will help scale AI-powered workflows, drive automation across the marketing team, and build a strong data foundation to measure impact and ROI. This role is perfect for someone with management consulting training who has hands-on AI experience and a passion for using data and automation to improve how marketing teams operate. You’ll serve as the marketing team’s in-house AI researcher, benchmark analyst, and automation strategist, helping us work smarter, faster, and more efficiently across every function.

Requirements

  • 1–4 years of experience in management consulting, business operations, marketing strategy, or a related field with exposure to AI/automation initiatives.
  • A strong analytical foundation- comfortable building benchmarking models, ROI frameworks, and operational performance metrics.
  • Experience with AI tools applicable to marketing (e.g., automation assistants, generative AI, workflow orchestration, analytics models).
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into marketing-friendly recommendations and step-by-step guidance.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and comfort navigating fast-moving cross-functional environments.
  • Experience working with or adjacent to martech stacks, workplace automation, or internal communications technology.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on emerging AI tools, trends, and best practices specifically relevant to marketing, brand, communications, events, content, demand gen, and operations.
  • Benchmark Illumio’s current AI maturity against industry standards and competitor practices.
  • Build a marketing-focused AI repository that includes use cases, tool evaluations, process maps, and recommended workflows.
  • Identify high-impact automation opportunities across Marketing.
  • Partner with marketing team leaders (Brand, Content, GEMS, Ops, Comms, Web, Digital, Advocacy, etc.) to design AI-powered workflows that integrate seamlessly with existing tools (Slack, Microsoft 365, Asana, Marketo, Domo, Salesforce, Figma, Canva, etc.).
  • Prototype, pilot, and refine AI automation solutions, ensuring usability and clear business value.
  • Build frameworks to measure efficiency gains, time savings, process improvements, and downstream marketing impact.
  • Create dashboards and executive-ready reporting that quantify AI ROI across marketing functions.
  • Translate findings into clear recommendations for where to scale, optimize, or sunset AI tools and workflows.
  • Act as the central point of contact for all things AI within the Marketing organization.
  • Collaborate regularly with IT, Business Systems, HR/People Ops, and Data teams to ensure responsible AI enablement and alignment.
  • Support the Head of Employee Communications & Programs with AI-driven improvements to internal communications, program operations, engagement initiatives, and the overall employee experience.
