About The Position

CACI is seeking a forward-thinking AI Prompt Engineer to join a team delivering innovative AI solutions in support of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The role applies generative AI technologies to help modernize how frontline personnel access information, make decisions, and perform their work. Using AI-powered tools and large language models, the engineer will develop solutions intended to improve efficiency, enhance situational awareness, and accelerate access to mission-critical information. The position is part of CACI’s Agile Solution Factory, a collaborative environment focused on rapid innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning. The engineer will translate operational challenges into practical AI solutions and work with multiple groups to integrate prompts that streamline manual processes. The role also involves testing and improving prompts, researching advances in generative AI, supporting fine-tuning and Retrieval Augmented Generation strategies, and troubleshooting unexpected model behavior. The position is full-time and requires onsite work in Ashburn, Virginia and/or Washington, D.C. Applicants must be U.S. citizens able to pass a CBP background investigation. The proposed salary range is $50,500–$101,000. CACI describes its culture as emphasizing integrity, innovation, trust, flexibility, and continuous growth, with learning and development resources and comprehensive benefits.
