About The Position

FICO is seeking an AI Pre-Sales Scientist to join their world-class team. This role involves being an integral part of a team of scientists working closely with external clients to build efficient predictive models, analyze and validate production model behavior, and ensure optimal model performance. There will be opportunities to support the internal technology team in model development and participate in sales activities related to model evaluation for different client environments.

Requirements

  • MS degree in statistics, engineering, mathematics, computer science, physics, or operations research (PhD preferred).
  • Some related industry experience in predictive modeling and data mining or PhD with no related experience.
  • Experience with Perl/Python, C, C++, or Java.
  • Familiarity with basic software design principles and coding standards and best practices.
  • Experience analyzing large datasets and applying data-cleaning techniques.
  • Experience performing statistical analyses leading to the understanding of the structure of datasets.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Bayesian networks, PCA, independent component analysis, linear and logistic regressions, inference, estimation, experimental design, neural networks, SVM.

Responsibilities

  • Building and evaluating predictive and decision models for deployment in production systems or for research.
  • Analyzing large amounts of historical data, determining suitability for modeling, data clean-up and filtering, pattern identification and variable creation, selection of sampling criteria, generating performance definitions and variables, performing experiments with different types of algorithms and models, and analyzing performance to identify the best algorithms to employ.
  • Translating complex AI into business value by clearly explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, aligning solutions with customer goals, and building trust through concise, relatable communication.
  • Engaging with diverse stakeholders, from engineers to executives, by actively listening, reading the room, and tailoring messaging to drive alignment, buy-in, and successful deployments.
  • Assisting with model go-lives by performing production data validations and score distribution analysis of models in production.
  • Applying data mining methodology in thorough analysis of model behavior and providing support for customer meetings, model construction, and pre-sales.
  • Managing projects under time and resource constraints.
  • Working with other teams within FICO (software, IT, product management, and product support) to provide high-quality support for the integration and deployment of analytics software and solutions.
  • Potentially participating in post-implementation support.
