AI Platform Lead
About The Position
The AI Platform Lead has technical responsibility for the company’s AI, internal applications, and automations, built as an agentic harness over a governed data foundation. The role is responsible for architecture, security, and infrastructure; makes key architecture decisions; leads AI governance; and sets engineering standards. It requires breadth across distributed systems, cloud data architecture, agentic AI, security, and application engineering, with deep expertise in several areas. The work requires advanced knowledge and the consistent exercise of discretion and judgment. The role also involves building the engineering team responsible for bringing the AI platform to life.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field, or ten or more years of demonstrated equivalent engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
- Ten or more years of professional software and data engineering experience.
- Three or more years operating at staff, principal, or lead level with formal responsibility for architecture and leading engineering teams.
- Demonstrated responsibility for at least one production system end to end, from architecture through deployment, operation, and ongoing evolution, at meaningful scale.
- Hands-on experience architecting and operating a cloud data platform in production, including responsibility for cost and performance.
- Production experience building applications backed by large language models, including retrieval, tool use, and evaluation.
- Experience designing systems that handle sensitive or regulated data, with direct responsibility for the security and access-control model.
- Experience managing and mentoring engineers, including hiring, performance management, and building a high-performing team.
- Breadth across distributed systems, cloud data architecture, agentic AI, security, and application engineering, with deep expertise in several areas.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with more than one cloud data platform, or formal experience evaluating and selecting between platforms.
- Healthcare (HIPAA) experience.
