About The Position

Amex GBT is seeking a passionate technologist and dedicated individual to lead the excellence of Data/AI engineering practice. This role is Hybrid, requiring 2-3 days per week in the Chicago office. The team's responsibilities span data integration supporting customers and internal business areas, and AI platform development. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in solving real-world business problems and driving innovation in the AI platform space.

Requirements

Development background.
Infrastructure (AWS) knowledge.
Data awareness.
8+ years of experience for Bachelor's degree or equivalent, 6+ years for Master's degree.
Passionate and curious about AI in general, especially Agentic AI.
Proven experience in data modeling, schema design patterns, and modern data access patterns (including API, streaming, data lake) and AWS.
Familiarity with various cloud technologies and building data products to support batch and real-time DS, AI/ML, and Deep learning applications.
Strong understanding of testing and monitoring tools and technologies.
Proficiency in platform development using Python and/or Java.
Some experience of Sagemaker or equivalent, feature store, dashboards and so on.
Some basics around LLM, guardrails, observability, RAG, Agentic.

Nice To Haves

Have good infrastructure knowledge (AWS, Kubernetes).
Have some experience with Data (BI, Reporting, Analytics, Machine Learning and so on) would be a plus.

Possess a deep knowledge of the entire system and be able to jump into code in any component to fire fight and contribute.
Apply expertise in professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
Lead collaboration with key partners and contribute subject matter expertise to develop unique solutions to complex issues.
Design, communicate, and execute architecture for moderately sophisticated data products.
Guide others in the design of software that is easily testable and observable.
Influence and contribute to the product vision for the team.
