AI Operations & Systems Engineer

Harrison.ai

About The Position

As AI Ops & Systems Engineer, you will be a strategic and AI-forward technologist who owns Harrison.ai's enterprise systems architecture, SaaS and vendor portfolio, and IT systems budget. You will sit within the newly formed AI Operations & Enablement team, whose mandate is to make the business 10x more productive through AI-native tools, processes, and enablement. This role exists to make that real: designing a well-architected systems landscape, running a disciplined vendor portfolio, and shipping automations that take work out of IT and out of the rest of the business. This is an experienced individual contributor role on track to lead IT and AI enablement across the business. It sits separately from day-to-day helpdesk and user support, which is managed by our Service Excellence squad. As AI Ops & Systems Engineer, you will shape how Harrison.ai operates as it scales — standing up an AI-native operating function from a position of executive sponsorship, with the autonomy to redesign the systems landscape and the remit to make the business measurably more productive. You will work alongside engineers and operators who are building category-defining healthcare AI, in a flat, hands-on culture that values agency, commercial rigour, and shipping.

Requirements

  • Experience across enterprise IT roles with depth in systems design, SaaS vendor and cost management, and AI tools and automation.
  • Has run an IT function or sub-function in a growth-stage or multi-entity business.
  • Demonstrably AI-forward. Uses AI in their own workflows and can point to concrete automations they have built or commissioned to take work out of IT and operations.
  • Hands-on with the modern enterprise IT stack — SSO and identity, DLP, MDM, endpoint management, SaaS admin, and security tooling implementation.
  • Healthtech or other regulated-industry exposure, with direct IT experience inside a regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with common standards and certifications (e.g. ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA).
  • High agency and comfortable as a hands-on operator.
  • Commercial instincts on vendor and SaaS spend. Has negotiated renewals at scale, retired redundant tools, and benchmarked against peers.
  • Comfortable owning a budget.
  • Strong systems engineering instincts. Comfortable managing enterprise systems through APIs, automation, and reproducible configuration rather than manual administration.

Nice To Haves

  • Scripting or programming fluency (Python, PowerShell, or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Design and own a simplified, frictionless, AI-forward target-state for business systems across the group, and the integration patterns between them.
  • Support the integration and implementation of enterprise security tooling.
  • Set the principles that govern how new systems are evaluated and rolled out, including security and compliance requirements.
  • Design and ship automations that take work out of IT and out of the rest of the business.
  • Demonstrate internally what an AI-forward operating function looks like and bring other teams along.
  • Support the integration and implementation of AI tools and automation in compliance with our AI governance framework.
  • Own the SaaS and IT vendor portfolio end-to-end — discovery, rationalisation, contract negotiation, renewals, and benchmarking.
  • Manage the IT systems budget and defend it on commercial merit.
  • Design and run the integration of IT environments across Harrison.ai, our subsidiaries, and future entities.
  • Bring architectural discipline to a group that is growing through both restructure and acquisition.
