About The Position
We are searching for a motivated undergraduate student to join the Visualization and Decision Support Division at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. This fall/spring internship will concentrate on gaining hands-on experience in AI/ML data preparation and contributing to meaningful research. ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.
Requirements
- Undergraduate students in a STEM major (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, Information Sciences, or related fields)
- Drive to learn and grow in the AI/ML field
- Commitment to data quality
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must be eligible to obtain a government security clearance
- Must be able to participate in the ARL drug testing program
- Must comply with electronic and physical monitoring requirements applicable to federal contractors
Nice To Haves
- Interest in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or data science
- Familiarity with geospatial concepts or mapping technologies
- Previous experience with data analysis or annotation at any level
Responsibilities
- Label and annotate diverse datasets with a primary focus on geospatial data such as tracks, images, video, text, and sensor data
- Support AI/ML model development for Navy, Department of Defense (DoD), and Intelligence Community (IC) applications
- Utilize industry-standard and custom labeling tools while collaborating with AI/ML researchers and engineers to understand requirements and contribute to data quality assurance processes
