AI/ML Engineer — Generative Video & Avatar AI

IntelliPro Group Inc.•Palo Alto, CA
•$160,000 - $200,000•Onsite

About The Position

The AI/ML Engineer will help train, fine-tune, and serve generative models powering real-time, interactive AI avatars. The role spans the full model lifecycle, from data curation and training of diffusion, video, and multimodal models to low-latency inference optimization for live, streaming deployments. The work will contribute to lifelike digital humans that see, listen, and respond with natural speech and expressive motion. The position involves developing generative models for talking-head synthesis, audio-driven facial animation, and full-body avatar video; building large-scale multimodal data pipelines; and optimizing model serving for real-time performance. The engineer will develop training, evaluation, and deployment infrastructure on GPU clusters, define quality metrics, and collaborate with backend, product, and research teams to ship and improve avatar features. The role also involves tracking research in generative video, multimodal AI, and neural rendering and applying relevant techniques.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of hands-on ML engineering experience, or strong research experience with production-quality code, and a track record of shipping deep learning models.
  • Deep expertise in PyTorch and modern deep learning workflows, including the ability to read, reproduce, and extend research papers.
  • Strong background in one or more of diffusion models, video generation, generative AI, computer vision, multimodal AI (audio and vision), speech synthesis, or neural rendering.
  • Proven ability to optimize models for real-time inference.
  • Solid software engineering fundamentals in Python.
  • Experience with distributed training on multi-GPU or multi-node setups.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous and rapidly evolving environments with a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
  • Fast-learning, startup-oriented approach and eagerness to advance interactive AI avatars.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with talking-head, audio-driven animation, lip-sync, or digital human systems, or related areas such as 3D Gaussian Splatting, NeRF, face reenactment, or avatar synthesis.
  • Familiarity with TensorRT, ONNX, Triton Inference Server, CUDA, mixed precision, and streaming pipelines.
  • Publications at top venues such as NeurIPS, CVPR, ICCV, SIGGRAPH, ICLR, or ICML, or notable open-source contributions.

Responsibilities

  • Train and fine-tune generative models for talking-head synthesis, audio-driven facial animation, and full-body avatar video.
  • Design data pipelines for large-scale video, audio, and multimodal datasets, including collection, cleaning, labeling, alignment, and augmentation.
  • Optimize models for real-time, low-latency serving through techniques such as distillation, quantization, pruning, caching, streaming inference, and custom CUDA/Triton kernels.
  • Build and maintain training, evaluation, and deployment infrastructure on GPU clusters.
  • Define and track quality metrics, including lip-sync accuracy, identity preservation, expression naturalness, latency, and throughput, and drive measurable improvements.
  • Collaborate with backend, product, and research teams to ship avatar features into production and iterate based on user feedback.
  • Stay current with research in generative video, multimodal AI, and neural rendering, and bring novel techniques into the technology stack.
