About The Position

Farmers Mutual Hail (FMH) is seeking a qualified undergraduate to join their 2027 Summer Internship Program. This is a paid internship, running from Monday, May 17 to Friday, August 6, with the possibility of becoming a full-time position in the future. The internship is based in West Des Moines, IA, and is not a remote position. The program is designed for currently-enrolled college students near the West Des Moines area.

Requirements

Must be a currently-enrolled sophomore, junior or senior at an undergraduate college or university, majoring in Computer Science, Data Science, MIS or related technical field.
A minor or focus on AI is highly preferred.
Exposure to Python (required).
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, basic infrastructure concepts, or AI frameworks (such as LangChain, TensorFlow, PyTorch) is a plus.
Exposure to AI enabled coding platforms such as Codex and IntelliJ.
Familiarity with Microsoft CoPilot ecosystem of tools preferred.

Responsibilities

Fine-tunes prompts and models to optimize AI-driven business applications.
Performs data preprocessing, analysis, and validation to support AI development and integration.
Assists in testing, debugging, and maintaining AI systems and related tools.
Researches, evaluates, and experiments with emerging AI technologies to identify opportunities for business use.
Designs, develops, and maintains software solutions primarily using Python, Codex, IntelliJ, Azure AI and related technologies.
Analyzes and interprets business and technical requirements to inform system design and functionality.
Develops and maintains technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Collaborates effectively with team members (AI Agile Team) and cross-functional groups (Information Security) to support ongoing initiatives.
