About The Position

Come Join Us! From apartments in New York to hospitals and stadiums in Dallas, libraries at prestigious universities to creating modern retail experiences, our teams contribute architectural glass and building products to projects that shape the way people live, work, heal, learn, and play. At OBE, the work of our employees truly matters. With over 6,500 employees, we operate more than 80 manufacturing and distribution facilities in five countries. You can see some of our favorite projects here . Start your journey with OBE and help us build the future. OBE is embedding AI directly into core business workflows such as quoting, order intake, and operations. This role contributes to that work in a hands-on way. You will build and test AI-powered workflows in real data environments and see your output used by the business during the internship.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field
  • Proficient in Python (pandas, NumPy) and SQL; you write code regularly beyond coursework
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs: prompt engineering, API usage, RAG, or agent frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar)
  • Familiarity with applied AI architectures, cloud-hosted services, and chatbot or conversational AI systems used in real workflows.
  • Builder mentality — GitHub activity, side projects, or real implementations carry more weight than coursework
  • Comfortable working with incomplete, messy data and producing something usable from it
  • Can explain what you built and why it works to someone who doesn’t code

Nice To Haves

  • Power BI or other BI tool experience is a plus; not required

Responsibilities

  • AI Workflows: Design, build, and iterate on LLM-based workflows including prompt engineering, output evaluation, and agent logic
  • Develop automation pipelines that connect AI models to real business processes (intake, classification, routing, generation)
  • Test and evaluate AI outputs against defined business rules and accuracy thresholds
  • Data & Integration: Build data pipelines that aggregate and normalize inputs from multiple ERP and operational systems
  • Clean, validate, and structure datasets for use in AI models and analytical reporting
  • Identify data quality issues and propose fixes, not just flag them
  • Analytics & Measurement: Develop dashboards and analytical views that track AI workflow performance and business outcomes
  • Analyze operational and commercial data to surface patterns, anomalies, and opportunities
  • Define and calculate metrics that connect AI activity to measurable business results
  • Governance & Documentation: Document AI workflow logic, data definitions, and business rules; support testing protocols and auditability

Benefits

  • Direct contribution to AI systems used in real business workflows
  • End-to-end exposure: from raw data and model logic through to workflow deployment and business adoption
  • Mentorship from practitioners building real AI capabilities, not managing vendor pilots
  • A clear, honest view of what senior data and AI roles look like in large-scale industrial organizations
  • Industry competitive benefits at the lowest cost to the employee
  • PTO and holidays, including floating holidays you can choose
  • A pay-for-performance culture with potential for annual raises and bonuses
  • We will equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to succeed
