About The Position

The AI Harness Engineer works directly with the Director of Software Development to design, build, and maintain the internal applications and data pipelines that run the business. This includes administrative tools, data ingestion jobs, and the services that transform raw data into reliable, usable information for teams across the company. This is a hands-on role for an experienced engineer who can own projects end to end, elevate engineering practices, and build systems that others can operate and extend with confidence. Success in this role means delivering reliable, observable internal tools and pipelines that are easy for the team to operate; ensuring the data flowing through those pipelines is validated and trusted by its consumers; measurably improving engineering practices and the technology stack over time; and bringing projects to completion with minimal direction.

Requirements

Several years of professional experience building and shipping production software.
Demonstrated depth across backend, frontend, and infrastructure development.
Strong experience at the application layer and with data pipelines, including workflow orchestration, data warehouse modeling, and data quality practices.
A consistent history of staying current with new tools, languages, and engineering practices, and applying them thoughtfully.
Proven ability to produce code and documentation that other engineers can pick up and build on without hand-off.
Self-sufficient and comfortable working with ambiguous, non-specified problems.
Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Partner closely with the Director of Software Development to design and deliver internal applications and data pipelines.
Build and maintain data pipelines with strong observability, validation, and well-defined failure handling.
Translate loosely defined business problems into clear technical designs and working solutions.
Write clean, well-tested, and well-documented code that other engineers can readily understand and maintain.
Identify opportunities to modernize the technology stack and engineering practices, and lead the adoption of new tools where they add clear value.
Drive projects from concept through completion, working both collaboratively and independently as the situation requires.
