About The Position

ICW Group is seeking an AI Governance Manager to join their AI Governance Management Office. This role is crucial for executing and coordinating the company's enterprise AI strategy, ensuring AI is built on a single platform, governed by a single framework, and deployed under regulatory oversight. The AI Governance Manager will report to the Director of Cloud, AI, ML, and Enablement Platforms and will work independently to administer and facilitate AI governance on a day-to-day basis. This includes coordinating governance committees, managing the intake-to-decision workflow, owning the AI Hub, and maintaining governance artifacts for audit and regulatory readiness. The role involves collaborating with leadership, control functions, business owners, and external stakeholders to make governance practical and efficient. The AI Governance Manager will translate policy, risk, and approval decisions from the AI Governance Executive Committee (AIGEC) into consistent, well-documented execution, lead governance projects, and provide guidance to other professionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Risk Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in program or project management, governance, risk, or compliance operations within a technology, IT, or regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated experience independently operating a governance, risk, or compliance program, including committee coordination, decision logging, evidence management, escalation management, and cross-functional process improvement.
  • Experience with AI/ML programs, digital transformation, or technology transformation initiatives, or a strong record of ramping quickly on new governance domains.
  • Advanced facilitation, stakeholder-management, and influencing skills, with the ability to navigate technical and business audiences at all levels of the organization, and influence practices, procedures, and policies at an operational level.
  • Proficiency with collaboration and tracking tools such as Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, or equivalent, and experience with SharePoint content management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to produce executive-level packs, dashboards, regulatory response materials, and reporting.
  • Extensive working understanding of governance frameworks and compliance requirements in regulated industries, including the impact of governance decisions on business, technology, risk, and control functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the insurance or financial services industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with AI governance frameworks: NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001, the NAIC AI Model Bulletin, and the NAIC AI Systems Evaluation Tool (Exhibits A through D) preferred.
  • Experience with NAIC regulatory requirements or Department of Insurance examination processes preferred.
  • Familiarity with the AI and ML platforms in use at ICW (AWS Bedrock, Snowflake Cortex) and enterprise AI tools (Claude Enterprise, Microsoft 365 Copilot) preferred.
  • Experience with SharePoint site design and enterprise portal management.
  • Risk, audit, or governance certification such as CRISC or CGEIT, or a project and program management certification such as PMP or PgMP, or SAFe / Lean Portfolio Management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and administer AIGEC and its AI Risk & Compliance and Third-Party AI Governance subcommittees, including running the cadence, preparing review packs, and documenting decisions and action items.
  • Operate the intake-to-decision workflow, applying the risk taxonomy, moving use cases through lifecycle gates, resolving issues, and maintaining the decision log, exception register, and escalation paths.
  • Maintain the AI policy, standard, procedure, and control library, coordinate the rollout of the policy suite, keep governance templates current, support control sufficiency testing, and recommend process and control enhancements.
  • Administer the AI Systems Registry as the single audit-ready inventory of AI use cases, models, agents, and vendor AI, enforcing registry gates and guiding owners through requirements.
  • Own and operate the AI Hub on SharePoint as the enterprise's single front door for AI, managing content lifecycle and serving as the interface between AIGEC and the workforce.
  • Serve as the NAIC Response Coordinator for California DOI AI Systems Evaluation Tool inquiries, coordinating evidence collection and maintaining artifacts for Exhibits A through D.
  • Operate the governance KPI and KRI dashboard and produce reporting for AIGEC and executive leadership.
  • Assemble audit-ready evidence packs for Tier 1 systems and run regulatory scanning.
  • Coordinate role-based AI governance training, attestation, and change-triggered learning.
  • Support the governance champion network and cultural-change activities.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and review of governance work products to reinforce clear ownership and consistent governance behavior.
