AI First iOS Software Engineer (Remote)

OPENLANE•Carmel, IN
•$85,000 - $125,000•Remote

About The Position

We are hiring AI-first Software Engineers (iOS) to build, evolve, and scale OPENLANE’s digital marketplace mobile experiences. These roles are for engineers who already treat AI as a first-class development tool, not a novelty. You’ll use AI to move faster, ship higher-quality software, and reduce operational and development toil, while still applying strong engineering judgment, ownership, and systems thinking. You’ll work on customer-facing wholesale marketplace apps, partnering closely with Product, Senior iOS engineers, Android, and backend teams. AI is an accelerator. Engineering ownership still matters.

Requirements

  • 3+ years professional iOS development (or equivalent depth)
  • Proficiency in Swift
  • Experience building apps with SwiftUI
  • Experience shipping at least one App Store app
  • AI-first mindset and active use of AI development tools with critical evaluation of outputs
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Solid Swift and SwiftUI skills; willingness to navigate UIKit where it still exists
  • Comfort with CI, tests, and code review
  • Actively uses AI development tools (code copilots, AI debuggers, test generators)
  • Curious about applying AI to real customer and business problems
  • Able to critically evaluate AI outputs instead of blindly accepting them
  • Comfortable learning and adapting in a fast-changing tool landscape
  • Swift; SwiftUI views and ViewModels
  • Basic networking and app architecture (MVVM or similar)
  • Familiarity with feature flags and mobile analytics
  • Unit and/or UI testing
  • Willingness to grow snapshot testing

Nice To Haves

  • Snapshot testing experience
  • Exposure to SPM modules and shared UI component libraries
  • Marketplace / e-commerce mobile experience
  • Interest in growing into auth, flags, and analytics ownership over time
  • Familiarity with hybrid WebView surfaces

Responsibilities

  • Implement iOS features primarily in modern SwiftUI across seller and buyer marketplace experiences
  • Ship flag-gated work; write unit/UI tests; meet dual-OS PR gate expectations with support
  • Use AI tools daily to accelerate coding, tests, and debugging—then verify before merge
  • Collaborate with Product/design; learn shared platform concerns under Senior guidance
  • Pair with Android counterparts on shared product behavior
  • Growing end-to-end ownership of features with guidance from Senior engineers
  • AI-assisted coding and refactoring
  • AI-generated test coverage and validation
  • AI-supported debugging and root-cause analysis
  • AI-assisted documentation and knowledge sharing
  • Applying AI tools to reduce repetitive work and increase engineering leverage
