About The Position

Axon's Corporate AI Team, within the Enterprise Data organization, focuses on internal-facing AI solutions to enhance employee productivity by reducing manual effort. The team develops and manages Cortex, Axon's internal AI platform, offering GPT-class models, chat assistants, and secure integrations with various enterprise systems. This role is for an AI/Technology Evangelist dedicated to promoting the adoption, understanding, and responsible utilization of AI across Axon. The position involves acting as a liaison between the Corporate AI Team and the broader organization, designing and delivering training programs, identifying and championing high-impact AI use cases, and developing the internal AI playbook. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on direct engagement with teams across the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in technology roles.
  • At least 3 years of experience focused on AI/ML, developer relations, technical evangelism, enablement, or a closely related domain.
  • Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences in writing, presentations, and one-on-one conversations.
  • Hands-on experience with modern AI tools and platforms (LLMs, coding assistants, automation frameworks, cloud AI services).
  • Strong understanding of software development practices, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise technology stacks.
  • Track record of driving technology adoption or transformation initiatives within an organization.
  • Self-directed and comfortable operating with ambiguity.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with comfort working across all organizational levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in developer relations, developer advocacy, technical evangelism, or technical training at a technology company.
  • Hands-on work with LLM platforms and tools, such as OpenAI (ChatGPT / APIs), Anthropic (Claude / Claude Code), AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, or similar.
  • Experience building and running internal enablement programs (training curricula, champions programs, office hours, documentation libraries).
  • Familiarity with AI governance, responsible AI frameworks, and compliance requirements (CJIS, FedRAMP, SOC 2).
  • Experience integrating with enterprise systems like Jira, Confluence/Quip, Slack, M365, Salesforce, or Snowflake.
  • Public speaking experience (conferences, webinars, all-hands presentations, customer events).
  • Background in public safety, government technology, or regulated industries.
  • Understanding of prompt engineering, RAG architectures, agentic workflows, and AI evaluation methods.
  • Content creation skills (writing, video production, or visual design).

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deliver training programs (workshops, office hours, lunch-and-learns, self-paced content) to educate employees on AI tools like Cortex, Claude, and Copilot.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive library of enablement materials, including quick-start guides, prompt engineering playbooks, video walkthroughs, FAQs, and best-practice documentation.
  • Manage an internal AI champions program to foster power users and drive adoption within their respective teams.
  • Track and report on AI adoption metrics such as usage, engagement, satisfaction, and business impact.
  • Partner with various business units (Finance, Sales, Operations, Legal, HR, Support, Engineering) to identify and prioritize AI use cases that reduce toil, improve quality, or create leverage.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate AI Team to scope and deliver AI solutions, including building lightweight prototypes and demos.
  • Document and share AI success stories, quantified wins, and lessons learned to build organizational momentum.
  • Serve as the primary internal communicator for Axon's AI platform, sharing roadmap updates, new capabilities, best practices, and success stories.
  • Create compelling content (blog posts, newsletters, Slack updates, demo videos, presentations) to maintain AI visibility and accessibility.
  • Present to leadership and executive audiences on AI adoption progress, opportunities, and strategic recommendations.
  • Represent Axon's Corporate AI work externally at conferences, meetups, and industry events.
  • Educate teams on the safe and responsible use of AI tools, covering topics like secrets management, data classification, prompt injection risks, and compliance requirements.
  • Develop and maintain resources like the "Vibe Coding" safety guide to help employees understand AI-generated code and content risks.
  • Partner with Security, Legal, and Governance teams to ensure AI adoption aligns with Axon's policies and ethical commitments.
  • Help operationalize responsible AI guardrails, including model selection guidance, data minimization, usage controls, and audit logging.
  • Build and maintain a map of AI initiatives across Axon to connect teams and prevent duplication.
  • Stay current with the AI landscape, evaluating new models, tools, and techniques, and translating relevant information into actionable guidance.
  • Evaluate new AI tools and vendors, providing recommendations for adoption, piloting, or avoidance.
  • Contribute to Axon's external AI community presence through talks, blog posts, open-source contributions, or partnerships.
