About The Position

As an AI Engineer on the Digital Products & AI team, you will work directly with clients to shape, design, and build production digital products, AI agents, intelligent workflows, and modernized platforms. You will collaborate with Product Strategists and Data Engineers to take products from discovery through deployment, applying technical depth and a practical understanding of client needs. Some engagements continue after launch, offering the opportunity to remain close to products in operation. This is a hands-on engineering role in which AI agents produce much of the code. You will write code, review agent-generated outputs, and use engineering judgment to shape architecture, controls, and acceptance criteria for production solutions. You will also help define problems when requirements are unclear while continuing to move delivery forward. The team uses small, senior pods to deliver outcomes quickly, and builds solutions intended to run in production rather than pilots or demonstrations.

Requirements

Track record of designing, building, and delivering complex technology solutions in production environments.
Experience building and operating production software.
Client-facing technical delivery experience at senior levels.
Strong software engineering skills; Python and TypeScript are ideal.
Experience designing and delivering cloud-native systems on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Hands-on experience building AI applications and agent-based systems in production.
Experience with orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or similar, and the judgment to assess when an orchestration layer is appropriate.
Experience building retrieval-enabled systems and working with technologies such as pgvector, Elasticsearch, or OpenSearch, with an understanding of trade-offs among retrieval quality, latency, and cost.
Experience integrating applications with enterprise systems, data platforms, APIs, identity providers, and MCP-enabled services.
Strong technical judgment and communication skills, and ability to navigate ambiguity while working directly with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to balance delivery speed with quality, security, and long-term maintainability.

Experience delivering solutions in consulting or professional services, or experience as a technical founder.
Experience in healthcare and life sciences, manufacturing, energy and utilities, transportation, or consumer industries.
Experience building reusable platforms, tooling, or AI solutions in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

Architect key elements of production AI solutions, including tool selection, memory and context management, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop controls.
Build and deploy components for agentic systems, including retrieval pipelines, MCP services and integrations, and connections between AI capabilities and enterprise data and processes.
Modernize platforms and applications around current business needs, rebuilding where necessary rather than simply migrating legacy functionality.
Design security and operational resilience into solutions, including access controls, identity management, deployment guardrails, and oversight of automated actions.
Break complex problems into deliverable components and help shape scope, sequencing, and implementation approaches for rapid delivery.
Create reusable patterns, skills, and tooling that support future engagements and grow the capability.
Work with clients and multidisciplinary teams to shape, design, and deliver products from discovery through deployment.
