Our Geospatial Intelligence team provides skills and capabilities to task, order, receive, process, disseminate, and exploit national, tactical, and commercial Intelligence within an integrated architecture in support of Geospatial Intelligence users. We support and enable the production of intelligence and situational awareness for national and warfighter security, targeting, command and control, and humanitarian aid. Our capabilities include requirements and mission workflow analysis for sensor platforms and ground systems, specialized computing platforms, architecture design and integration of data and systems in support of exploitation processes, advanced analytics, and integrated intelligence analysis from seabed to space. The Geospatial Intelligence Department (N971) is seeking an AI Engineer to support the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Mapping, Charting and Geodesy Program Management Office. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of an integrated team. They will have experience performing data analyses and data engineering, and algorithm development to support prototyping and experimentation. They will understand modern software development practices to automate development, testing and deployment of solutions in secure environments. They will play a pivotal role in describing and promoting artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions to address sponsor challenges and to meet mission priorities. A working knowledge of Geospatial Intelligence is preferable but not required. This position requires frequent sponsor interaction and close coordination with multiple sponsors, and a team of multi-disciplined engineers and subject matter experts (SMEs). Focus for this role is to determine a comprehensive portfolio roadmap for AI, ML and automation modernization efforts across the Foundation GEOINT production systems, encompassing from data ingest to customer dissemination. The candidate will have knowledge in the breadth of AI / ML / automation algorithms, tools and software applications, as well as hands-on familiarity with as great a range as possible.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Active TS/SCI with polygraph
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Experience with full stack web development using JavaScript (React), Python (Django), or similar frameworks
  • Experience with testing, CI/CD, setting up environments, version control, and maintaining a clear project structure to create maintainable systems.
  • Familiarity with AI integration and model development using PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn for both training and inference tasks
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GovCloud).
  • Ability to understand how LLMs are enhanced with additional data through LLM Augmentation techniques.
  • Ability to transition unclear requirements into technical specifications and systems
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Minimum of 4 days a week on-site.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Geospatial Intelligence
  • Experience developing production data and/or AI/ML pipelines
  • Knowledge of GEOINT products, analytics, and services as well as GEOINT satellite systems, processing, exploitation, and dissemination systems
  • Knowledge of NGA supported missions
  • Knowledge of MLOps, DevSecOps, CI/CD workflows, and Containerization
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with internal and external mission partners
