About The Position

KēSTA I.T. is actively seeking an AI Engineer for an immediate contract engagement with a government client. This is a remote position focused on the ongoing operation, modernization, and enhancement of AI-enabled applications that manage confidential and regulated data. The role involves developing, deploying, and maintaining modern web applications using Python, cloud technologies, and AI-assisted development tools. The ideal candidate will have experience building production-ready applications, working in Microsoft Azure environments, and leveraging AI coding assistants to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

Requirements

Strong experience developing applications using Python.
Experience with modern Python web frameworks such as FastAPI or similar.
Experience deploying and managing applications in Microsoft Azure, including services such as App Service, Storage, Key Vault, and related cloud technologies.
Experience using Git and pull request-based source control workflows.
Familiarity with AI-assisted software development tools and modern coding assistant workflows.
Experience designing, developing, and maintaining web applications and APIs.
Knowledge of systems analysis, application design, software development, and programming principles.
Understanding of cloud computing concepts and application deployment strategies.
Experience comparing, evaluating, and selecting AI models for business use cases.
Knowledge of secure software development practices and handling confidential or regulated data.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to independently manage application development from requirements gathering through production deployment.

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, enhance, and extend AI-enabled applications and supporting services.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to gather requirements and provide design recommendations.
Write, debug, test, and maintain high-quality production code using Python and modern web frameworks.
Configure, deploy, monitor, and support applications in Microsoft Azure cloud environments.
Design and develop web applications, APIs, data flows, user interfaces, forms, and reports.
Provide technical guidance on application infrastructure, integrations, and cloud services.
Utilize Git-based source control and participate in pull request reviews and collaborative development workflows.
Work effectively within an AI-assisted software development environment, leveraging coding assistants to improve productivity while validating code quality and reliability.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to design, develop, and deploy AI-enabled solutions.
Document system architecture, workflows, technical procedures, and development processes.
Evaluate emerging technologies, AI tools, and development practices for potential adoption.
Ensure secure development practices and proper handling of confidential and regulated data.
Support application lifecycle activities from initial requirements through deployment and ongoing production support.
