About The Position

DeepScribe is building AI agents to automate and transform clinical workflows, with a broader mission to build an operating system for healthcare. The company embeds AI in workflows such as clinical trial matching, billing, and ambient documentation. Its solutions are used by major healthcare organizations, including The US Oncology Network and Ochsner Health. DeepScribe is seeking an AI Engineer to build and ship LLM-powered healthcare applications. The role owns new AI workflows from prototype through production and involves shipping quickly, engaging directly with customers, and developing systems intended to reduce clinician burnout. It combines machine learning, product thinking, and engineering, with responsibility for production services that use LLMs, speech models, and medical reasoning. The position is remote, with Bay Area residents encouraged to work from the San Francisco office.

Requirements

At least 3 years of experience building production AI systems, ideally in fast-moving environments or as a founder.
Extensive experience with LLM inference, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Llama.
Strong product sense.
Comfort working across the stack, including frontend and backend, to ship features.
A strong focus on speed, ownership, and obtaining real user feedback.

Nice To Haves

Experience with automatic speech recognition systems, such as Whisper.
Experience with EHR integrations such as FHIR or HL7, or healthcare-specific ontologies.
Familiarity with SOC 2, HIPAA, or sensitive data pipelines.

Responsibilities

Develop and own end-to-end AI applications, including clinical trial matching, ambient copilots, and billing automation.
Improve the LLM-powered documentation platform used daily by thousands of clinicians.
Build and optimize inference pipelines and real-time speech recognition systems.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, clinical experts, and go-to-market teams to iterate rapidly and launch high-impact features.
