About The Position

Customer Value Partners (CVP) is a management consulting and technology firm that has served federal agencies since 2003. CVP NextLabs is our innovation engine, building AI-native products like Fifer that change how government operates. We are outcomes-obsessed, and serious about shipping software that matters. Fifer is CVP's enterprise GenAI platform purpose-built for government. It runs entirely in your cloud environment with zero data leaving premises, swappable LLMs, patent-pending multi-agent RAG, and out-of-box apps including Chat, Expert, Audit, Analyst, and Dev. CVP NextLabs is hiring a Software Engineer to build and scale Fifer applications. This is not a maintenance role. You will ship features that automate workflows used by Federal Agencies using AI and integrate with the security tool ecosystems of some of the most critical agencies in the U.S. government. We build with AI-first principles: LLMs, Agent Harnesses, AI-assisted coding tools are part of our daily workflow, not novelties. If you think in prompts and context windows as naturally as you think in functions, you will fit right in.

Requirements

• 4+ years of hands-on software engineering experience working on real commercial products
• Production experience with React and/or Next.js frontend frameworks
• Production experience with Node.js and ExpressJs backend libraries
• Strong PostgreSQL skills including schema design and query optimization
• Hands-on experience deploying to AWS and/or Azure
• Daily use of AI-assisted coding tools (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent) -- not "familiar with," actually uses them
• Experience with Docker containers and GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines
• Active GitHub profile that reflects how you actually build software

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain full-stack features across a React/Next.js frontend and Node.js/NextJs backend using AI assisted coding best practices
• Deploy and manage containerized workloads on AWS and Azure within FedRAMP-compliant boundaries
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Docker
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas for compliance artifact storage and retrieval
• Collaborate with federal agency users to translate authorization workflow pain points into shipped product
• Participate in and help evolve an AI-first development culture where prompts, agents, and automation replace toil
