AI DevOps Engineer

SAPVancouver, BC
$77,500 - $166,200Hybrid

About The Position

We are looking for a motivated and skilled AI DevOps Engineer to join the UACP engineering team. In this role, you will play a key part in designing, automating, and optimizing our deployment pipelines across cloud-native and multi-cloud environments. You have a genuine passion for applying AI/ML techniques to modernize and simplify the way software is built, tested, and delivered.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with SAP BTP Cloud Foundry — app deployment, service bindings, space/org management, and pipeline integration.
  • Practical experience with SAP BTP Kyma — deploying containerised workloads, managing Kyma modules, and working with the Kubernetes-based runtime.
  • Familiarity with Hyperspace platform services and tooling.
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI/ML to DevOps workflows — e.g., AI-assisted testing (test generation, flaky test detection), intelligent deployment strategies, predictive incident detection, or LLM-aided pipeline scripting.
  • Keen interest and awareness of the evolving AI tooling ecosystem (GitHub Copilot, AI-based observability tools, generative test frameworks, etc.).
  • Strong experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Argo CD, Tekton, or equivalent.
  • Proficient in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) — Terraform, Helm, or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of AWS core services (EKS, EC2, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.); exposure to Azure or GCP is a plus.
  • Understanding of cloud networking, security groups, and cost-management principles.
  • Solid understanding of Kubernetes architecture and day-2 operations — deployments, services, ingress, persistent volumes, HPA, RBAC, and namespaces.
  • Experience with Helm chart authoring and management.
  • Experience deploying and operating Elasticsearch / OpenSearch for log aggregation, search, and analytics.
  • Familiarity with the broader Elastic Stack (Kibana, Logstash, Filebeat) or equivalent observability toolchains (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
  • Solid understanding of Git-based workflows, branching strategies, and release management.
  • Experience working in Agile/SAFe development environments.
  • Comfortable working with containerisation (Docker) and image management (container registries, vulnerability scanning).
  • 2–5 years of professional experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with service mesh concepts (Istio, Kyma eventing) is advantageous.
  • Experience with Red Hat OpenShift — deploying and managing containerised workloads on OpenShift, familiarity with OpenShift Pipelines (Tekton), OpenShift GitOps (Argo CD), and the OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) operational model.
  • Experience with SAP BTP services beyond BTP CF/Kyma (e.g., Integration Suite, Event Mesh, HANA Cloud, AI Core Services).
  • Relevant cloud or DevOps certifications are a plus (AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, CKA/CKAD, Red Hat OpenShift certifications, SAP BTP certifications, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Cloud Platform Engineering: Design, deploy, and maintain applications and services on SAP BTP Cloud Foundry and SAP BTP Kyma environments, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
  • AI-Augmented DevOps: Champion the use of AI tools and approaches to streamline and simplify testing, deployment, and release workflows — including AI-assisted code review, test generation, anomaly detection, and intelligent rollout strategies.
  • Workflow Automation: Architect and implement end-to-end automated pipelines for CI/CD using modern tooling; continuously identify manual processes and eliminate toil through automation.
  • Hyperspace / Internal Platform: Work with Hyperspace platform capabilities to deliver and manage services effectively within the internal platform ecosystem.
  • Multi-Cloud & Hyperscaler Operations: Collaborate on workloads running across AWS and other major hyperscalers (Azure, GCP), ensuring best practices around cost optimisation, security, and operational excellence.
  • Kubernetes & Container Orchestration: Manage and optimise Kubernetes clusters (on BTP Kyma, EKS, or equivalent), including workload scheduling, networking, resource management, and cluster lifecycle operations.
  • Observability & Search: Deploy and maintain Elasticsearch (and related Elastic Stack components such as Logstash/Kibana/Beats or OpenSearch) for centralised logging, monitoring, and operational intelligence.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with emerging AI DevOps tooling and practices; propose and prototype improvements to the deployment landscape and developer experience.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with software engineering, architecture, and security teams to align platform capabilities with product delivery goals.

Benefits

  • Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.
