About The Position

Lawdie Legal is building the AI-native back office for law firms, focusing on areas like billing, matter management, document generation, prosecution workflows, and agentic automation. The company aims to replace existing point solutions with a more trustworthy system for sensitive legal work. Lawdie has gained traction in the AmLaw 200, has multiple firms running on its platform, and is experiencing rapid growth. They recently secured venture funding and are preparing for their next round. This role offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects that directly affect real firms and their operations.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience, or an exceptional portfolio demonstrating equivalent ability
• Strong programming fundamentals and a track record of shipped work — GitHub, internship, class project, or live product
• Hands-on familiarity with LLMs, RAG, embeddings, prompting, agents, or model evaluation
• Comfort with PDFs, contracts, messy real-world data, and users who need tools that are simple and reliable, not clever
• Strong writing, product judgment, and genuine care handling confidential information

Nice To Haves

• React, Next.js, FastAPI, SQL/Postgres, vector databases, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, document AI pipelines, or exposure to legal ops, contracts, M&A, compliance, or law firm workflows

Responsibilities

• Own and ship tools for intake, contract review, diligence, document search, structured extraction, and matter tracking
• Build across the stack in Python or TypeScript — APIs, databases, LLM APIs, retrieval, agents, document-processing pipelines
• Translate user pain points directly into product requirements, data models, and interfaces with minimal hand-holding
• Evaluate model output for accuracy, consistency, and missing context — and build the judgment for when a tool should hand off to a human
• Document decisions, edge cases, and safe-usage guidance for tools handling confidential legal work
