About The Position

This is a unique opportunity to join and help shape an awesome new team responsible for the Character AI of our social robot. This role will contribute to creating extremely exciting parts of a novel user experience, namely interaction with a social robot. As a Character AI Developer you will be involved in planning as well as implementing many of the aspects of the robot that make him feel lifelike, produce dynamic behavior, and behave in a manner that is consistent with his character. You’ll be working with many different teams (design, SDK, robot skill developers, and others) to make this happen.

Requirements

• Enthusiasm and passion for robotics and good UX.
• A bachelor’s degree in CS or a related field and an advanced degree (or 4 years of industry experience) with specialty in a field related to robot or character AI, such as: Robotics, human-robot interaction, game development, agent AI, autonomous planning, machine learning, probabilistic reasoning, etc.
• Strong programming skills, preferably with JavaScript/Typescript experience.
• Experience working collaboratively on a team.
• Must be qualified to work in the US.

Nice To Haves

• Experience developing software libraries or services (API design).
• Deep familiarity with Git version control, async/event-based programming, unix-like shell, autonomous testing frameworks.
• HTTP/WS networking.
• Agile/Scrum development.
• NodeJs/IOJs.
• Github’s Electron/Atom.
• NPM or equivalent dependency manager system.

Responsibilities

• Planning and implementing aspects of the robot that make it feel lifelike.
• Producing dynamic behavior for the robot.
• Ensuring the robot behaves in a manner consistent with its character.
• Collaborating with design, SDK, and robot skill development teams.
