About The Position

Fin is seeking a technically-capable product leader to head up AI Design within its AI Group, where custom models and core Fin functionality are developed. This role involves managing AI Designers and collaborating closely with AI Engineers, Scientists, and Product Designers. The position is a new type of product leadership that blends technical, product, and leadership skills, focusing on shaping the behavior, reasoning, response, and improvement of Fin's AI models. The role emphasizes understanding model behavior, evaluations, and iteration loops as much as UI design. The ideal candidate will have strong 'AI Chops,' product leadership experience, and a proactive, quality-focused mindset, comfortable operating in ambiguous and fast-paced environments.

Requirements

Comfortable operating at the AI layer, understanding model behavior, evaluations, and testing agent workflows.
Ability to hold conversations with engineers and scientists.
Experience building, breaking, and experimenting with AI systems.
Strong opinions about the future of AI, what's overhyped, and what matters.
Experience leading teams, building products from scratch, or shaping products people use.
Ability to connect user needs, business goals, and technological possibilities.
Experience shipping AI products from the ground up or integrating AI into products.
High-agency; builds and does not wait for permission.
Cares about quality, not just aesthetics but functionality.
Enjoys moving fast in messy, ambiguous spaces.
Raises the bar for people around them.

Nice To Haves

A product leader who has gone deep on AI over the last year.

A founder, or someone building things on the side, figuring this out in public.
May not have had the title 'Design Leader'.

Responsibilities

Lead the Design function within the AI Group.
Manage AI Designers (currently 3 Staff/Principal level AI Designers).
Work directly with AI Engineers and Scientists in the AI Group.
Collaborate with Product Designers and teams in the R&D group.
Shape how the Fin AI models and harness behave, including how they reason, respond, and improve over time.
Define the direction and perfect experiences by zooming out and zooming in.
Help shape how the system behaves.
Help shape how quality is evaluated.
Help shape how model capability is turned into real product experiences.
