Tech in Asia is looking for a reporter to cover the AI beat in Southeast Asia and the broader Asian tech scene. We’re looking for writers who know the difference between an agent and a chatbot, and who understand why slapping a large language model on an interface doesn’t make a product intelligent. More importantly, a successful candidate needs to go beyond the press releases, which means picking up the phone and calling sources, questioning narratives, and explaining to readers what these companies are really building. You need to be able to follow the technology, the money, and the people shaping how AI is actually built and deployed across the region. And if you have a sense of humor, that helps too. Why work with us Tech in Asia is a place for journalists who want to go beyond the daily news churn and work on deeper stories. You don’t need to rewrite press releases - we have AI for that. Our newsroom covers startups, research labs, and the issues facing the fast-evolving AI economy across Southeast Asia and the world. You will have the space to pursue substantive reporting, providing analysis and meaningful insights into how AI is being built, funded, and deployed. If you have two to three years of reporting experience and want to cover one of the most dynamic beats in tech, we’d like to hear from you.
