About The Position

Facility Solutions Group (FSG) is seeking a motivated intern to help integrate AI into its core electrical operations. This role focuses on building AI-driven tools to solve practical challenges in electrical contracting, moving from manual processes to intelligent, automated workflows. The intern will work at the intersection of data science and the electrical trade.

Requirements

• Current Junior or Senior pursuing a degree in CS, Data Science, or Electrical Engineering with a heavy focus on AI.
• Expertise in Python, capable of writing clean, production-ready code.
• Familiarity with OpenCV for blueprint analysis.
• Familiarity with Pandas for labor data analysis.
• Familiarity with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Comfortable visiting active construction sites to collect training data.

Nice To Haves

• A basic understanding of electrical systems (circuits, panels, voltage).

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine Computer Vision models to automatically count electrical symbols on PDF blueprints for material bids.
• Build regression models using historical project data to predict labor overruns based on various factors.
• Implement real-time object detection for job-site cameras to monitor safety and compliance with OSHA electrical safety protocols.
• Build a recommendation engine to optimize the timing of material purchases based on market fluctuations and project timelines.
