About The Position

The Application Analyst is responsible for the implementation, integration, enhancement, and operational support of business‑critical applications within the Nuclear Technology Solutions Applications Portfolio. This role partners closely with nuclear and corporate business stakeholders to understand processes and apply technology solutions that improve productivity, efficiency, and cost effectiveness. The position has a strong emphasis on cloud‑based application and data platforms, including the Southern Nuclear Company (SNC) Lakehouse, leveraging Microsoft Azure, Databricks, and modern data pipelines. The Application Analyst will also support vendor‑provided AI and ML‑enabled applications, working with internal teams and external vendors to ensure reliable, secure, and compliant operation. This role will be filled at Exempt Level 4, 5, or 6 depending on qualifications and experience. This is currently a hybrid role requiring on‑site work at the Energy Center Monday–Thursday, with remote work on Fridays. Additional on‑site presence may be required based on business needs. All incumbents must comply with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requirements, including background investigations, federal drug and alcohol testing, and other regulatory prerequisites.

Requirements

  • Experience implementing, integrating, and supporting enterprise and vendor application solutions
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms, with emphasis on Microsoft Azure
  • Experience working with data platforms and pipelines, including: Azure Data Factory or equivalent pipeline technologies Azure storage services (Data Lake, Blob Storage) SQL‑based data stores (Azure SQL, SQL Server, Oracle)
  • Hands‑on experience supporting or integrating with lakehouse architectures
  • Experience supporting Databricks environments for data processing, analytics, and application integration
  • Knowledge of REST and SOAP APIs, batch processing, message queues, and file‑based integrations (e.g., SFTP)
  • Familiarity with Windows client and server environments, RHEL/Linux client and server, and web‑based application hosting
  • Basic understanding of networking, security, and identity management concepts in enterprise and cloud environments.
  • Experience with source control and CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps or GitHub
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with business stakeholders, vendors, and technical teams

Nice To Haves

  • Application development experience using .NET / .NET Core, C#, TypeScript, Python, PowerShell, or scripting languages
  • Experience with modern web frameworks such as Blazor
  • Experience with Power BI, SSRS, or other reporting and analytics tools
  • Experience supporting vendor‑provided AI and ML applications, including coordination with vendors on incidents, upgrades, and enhancements
  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts, including model lifecycle considerations, data dependencies, and operational support requirements (preferred)
  • Exposure to AI tools such as Copilot or other productivity and development assistants (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Implement, configure, and support enterprise and vendor application solutions supporting nuclear operations and corporate functions
  • Support and integrate cloud‑based data and application solutions built on Microsoft Azure, Databricks, and the SNC Lakehouse
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor data pipelines and integrations between applications, data platforms, and external systems
  • Provide operational support for production applications, including: Incident troubleshooting and resolution Performance monitoring and issue remediation Root cause analysis and corrective action planning
  • Support vendor‑provided AI and ML applications, coordinating with internal stakeholders and vendors to ensure availability, performance, and compliance
  • Participate in application upgrades, patches, and enhancements, including testing and deployment activities
  • Manage application changes using established SDLC, change management, and deployment practices
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, data, and compliance teams to ensure solutions meet Southern Company and NRC standards
  • Maintain technical documentation and contribute to continuous improvement of application support and delivery practices
