At S&P Global , the AI Agent Developer Intern in the Agile & PPM Tools team supports backend development and AI-driven enhancements for Enterprise Portfolio Management (EPM) and Azure DevOps platforms . Working within a SAFe Agile framework , this role collaborates with cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-availability solutions. The position contributes to the development, testing, and support of AI-powered capabilities , including intelligent agents, integrations, and automation features that improve user experience and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, or a related field
  • Exposure to software development or AI concepts through coursework, projects, or internships (0–6 months preferred)
  • Basic understanding of LLMs, Generative AI, and agent-based systems
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, JavaScript, or C#
  • Familiarity with APIs, REST services, and backend development concepts
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly, especially in AI/ML domains
  • Good communication skills and ability to document work clearly
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • This role is limited to persons with indefinite right to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with LLM frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Semantic Kernel, OpenAI APIs, Azure OpenAI)
  • Understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings, and vector databases
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and serverless architectures (e.g., Lambda)
  • Knowledge of AI evaluation metrics such as accuracy, latency, cost, and hallucination detection
  • Curiosity and passion for AI and emerging technologies
  • Ability to experiment, prototype, and iterate quickly
  • Attention to detail, especially in testing and validation
  • Strong ownership mindset and willingness to take initiative

Responsibilities

  • Assist in building LLM-powered agents (e.g., task planning, tool-use, retrieval-augmented generation).
  • Develop and maintain agent workflows: prompting strategies, function/tool calling, memory, and context management.
  • Integrate agents with APIs and systems e.g., internal services.
  • Create evaluation approaches for agent quality (accuracy, groundedness, latency, cost)
  • Add safety and reliability controls: input/output validation, policy checks, rate limiting, fallbacks, and human-in-the-loop steps.
  • Write clear documentation for prototypes, experiments, and handoffs.
