About The Position

The OpenAI for Government team partners with state, local, federal, and international governments to enable responsible, human-centered AI adoption. This role is for an AI Adoption, Content, and Community Manager for Government Engagement & Enablement. The individual will act as a builder, connector, storyteller, and super-user who deeply understands ChatGPT and public service. This role sits at the intersection of enablement, education, community, communications, and marketing, serving as the connective tissue between OpenAI and government practitioners globally. The goal is to help them learn, share, teach, celebrate wins, and feel confident using AI in their day-to-day work. The role involves creating inspirational adoption and deployment content, designing initiatives that foster customer satisfaction, and acting as an AI adoption expert and enabler. Responsibilities include managing government-specific content (training, enablement, messaging), architecting community experiences (events, cohorts, networks), and guiding public servants on AI possibilities while respecting their current context. The ideal candidate loves teaching, community building, writing clear content, running events, and empowering others.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in technology adoption enablement and training, community management, communications, marketing, education, or related roles, ideally around AI and with complex or mission-driven organizations.
  • Government experience or deep government adjacency (public sector roles, contractors, NGOs, civic tech, policy, or government-focused companies).
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills — ability to make complicated things simple and inspiring.
  • Proven ability to plan and run events that people want to attend.
  • Comfort training and speaking to groups — from frontline practitioners to senior leaders.
  • A collaborative, low-ego working style; enjoyment of empowering others.
  • Deep curiosity and enthusiasm for AI — a power user of ChatGPT, constantly exploring possibilities.
  • Strong empathy for public servants and respect for their operational constraints.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and keep many moving pieces aligned.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver training & enablement, including hands-on trainings and workshops to help government users gain confidence with ChatGPT.
  • Develop lightweight, scalable learning experiences that reduce risk, set expectations, and inspire responsible use.
  • Help smaller government customers get onboard and drive their practical use of ChatGPT.
  • Continuously refine OpenAI for Governments customer-facing content based on feedback, usage patterns, and evolving customer needs.
  • Create operational cadences for gathering customer feedback to provide to the product team and others.
  • Capture all trainings and enablement sessions with customers and training feedback, and work with teams to identify areas for improvement.
  • Serve as an in-house expert for government customers seeking insight and advice on creating effective customer employee/workforce communications campaigns to drive ChatGPT confidence and use.
  • Act as a point of escalation for customers experiencing issues and ensure they receive the necessary support.
  • Build and steward the OpenAI for Government community by designing and growing communities of practice across various government levels.
  • Create, contribute to, and maintain OpenAI for Governments contributions to spaces (virtual and in-person) where public servants can learn from each other, share use cases, and feel supported.
  • Create delightful experiences and engagements for customers, drawing insights from commercial, education, and other practices and adapting them for a government audience.
  • Act as a trusted, empathetic presence for government users, understanding their constraints, motivations, and missions.
  • Serve as the source of truth for maintaining government-focused content, including training materials, enablement guides, playbooks, FAQs, customer impact stories, and messaging.
  • Translate complex AI concepts into clear, compelling, and accessible language for public servants at all levels.
  • Write high-quality copy across various formats: training content, event materials, emails, articles, social posts, community updates, case studies, speeches, presentations, and internal briefs.
  • Support OpenAI for Government leaders with compelling presentations, videos, slides, and other materials.
  • Assist in upgrading the design and aesthetic of materials, working with in-house design, brand, and resource teams, as well as outside vendors.
  • Plan and execute government-focused events such as workshops, listening tours, roundtables, panels, hackathons, and community showcases.
  • Partner with Customer Success, Sales, Product, GA, Readiness, and Marketing to deliver cohesive, high-impact experiences.
  • Ensure every event leaves participants feeling smarter, more capable, and genuinely excited about AI's potential for their mission.
  • Create new and exciting SWAG and other physical elements to ensure OAI leaves a lasting impression.
  • Highlight and celebrate government “wins,” champions, and creative uses of ChatGPT.
  • Build recognition mechanisms for government adoption of AI that rewards curiosity, experimentation, and impact.
  • Amplify the success of customers and colleagues, making them the heroes of the story.
  • Create and maintain the customer impact story repository and feed impact stories through OAI, updating core materials with inspirational examples.
  • Record and help customers, colleagues, and OAI leaders record multi-media content including videos, podcasts, and other recordings.
  • Build repeatable, scalable processes for content creation, community engagement, and training delivery.
  • Track engagement and adoption signals to understand what's working and where to iterate.
  • Utilize tools and automation (including ChatGPT) to move fast without losing quality.
  • Systematize the creation of new feature content and updates across newsletters, emails, community sites, Academy, customer trainings, and all content.
