About The Position

Tamwood International Camps is seeking enthusiastic, tech-savvy AI Academy Instructors for their summer camp program. The AI Academy empowers learners aged 11-17 to become thoughtful creators of technology by understanding how artificial intelligence works, its applications, and its impact on people and communities. Through hands-on projects, inquiry-driven learning, and real-world exploration, campers will build technical skills, creative confidence, and ethical awareness, culminating in a final "AI for Good Expo."

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in Computer Science, Education, STEM, Digital Media, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching or mentoring children/teens; camps or experiential programs a strong asset.
  • Foundational understanding of AI/ML concepts, generative AI tools and prompt design, and ethical AI.
  • Confidence using beginner-friendly AI tools.
  • Strong digital literacy (cloud tools, Chromebooks/laptops, file management).
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to solve problems, work independently, and collaborate effectively in a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced camp environment.
  • Experience with project-based learning, design thinking, youth hackathons, or showcases is an asset.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach daily classes aligned with the Tamwood Camps AI Academy curriculum, breaking down AI concepts into age-appropriate activities.
  • Facilitate hands-on projects, mini sprints, and design challenges, connecting learning to place-based exploration.
  • Facilitate the 'AI for Good Expo,' coordinating pitches, feedback, and graduation ceremonies.
  • Prepare lesson plans, create slides, worksheets, and project templates, and curate safe, age-appropriate AI tools and platforms.
  • Support the set-up of student devices, accounts, and demo environments, and troubleshoot minor tech issues.
  • Supervise students during breaks and scheduled non-class times.
  • Maintain an English-only environment in the classroom.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and energetic atmosphere consistent with the spirit of summer camp.
  • Model responsible technology use and adapt content for diverse skill levels.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Complete administrative tasks accurately and on time, including daily attendance, tracking project milestones, and participating in graduation ceremonies.
  • Report to the Head Teacher and Academic Manager (and Camp Director, as required).
  • Collaborate with the Academic Manager to arrange one guest speaker per Academy Cohort.
