About The Position

The AHS / DIP Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining After Hardening System (AHS) and Dip coating equipment used in the production of ice cream and frozen novelty products. This position ensures ingredients, inclusions, coatings, and finished products are processed accurately and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and operational performance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to operate and monitor automated processing and production equipment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Ability to read and follow recipes, procedures, production schedules, and work instructions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and production documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Subject to up to at least 92db’s
  • Lifting: up to 20 lbs. occasionally
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, on a regular basis
  • Reaching: Extending hands and arms in any direction
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist occasionally
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities that must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
  • Ability to work in ambient, refrigerated, and frozen environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work around moving machinery, production equipment, and food processing systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous manufacturing or food production experience preferred.
  • Experience operating automated production equipment is preferred.
  • Experience in dairy, frozen dessert, beverage, or food manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor AHS and DIP systems used for ingredient handling, flavor injection, inclusion feeding, coating application, and product processing.
  • Verify ingredients, inclusions, flavors, and packaging materials prior to production startup.
  • Ensure production runs meet established formulations, product specifications, and quality standards.
  • Monitor product flow, temperatures, pressures, weights, and operating parameters throughout production.
  • Perform start-up, shutdown, and changeover procedures in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain continuous operation by identifying and addressing process issues before they impact production.
  • Conduct in-process quality checks including product appearance, flavor accuracy, texture, weights, and ingredient distribution.
  • Follow all HACCP, SQF, GMP, FDA, and food safety requirements.
  • Document production and quality data accurately and timely.
  • Immediately report any product quality concerns, process deviations, or food safety issues.
  • Assist with investigations and corrective actions regarding quality issues.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify mechanical or operational abnormalities.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and minor troubleshooting as needed.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance and Production leadership to resolve equipment issues.
  • Support preventative maintenance activities and equipment improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure proper operation of pumps, valves, feeders, conveyors, injection systems, and related processing equipment.
  • Perform cleaning and sanitation activities according to established procedures.
  • Support allergen control programs and product changeovers.
  • Verify equipment cleanliness and production readiness before startup.
  • Maintain accurate sanitation documentation and records.
  • Ensure work areas remain clean, organized, and audit-ready.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, behaviors, or equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, Warehouse, Maintenance, and Sanitation teams.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and employee training activities.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support operational or business needs.
