About The Position

The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) is looking to hire a detail-oriented intermittent part-time Field / Phone Enumerator to perform tasks that support our organization. This position involves interviewing farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural businesses either in person or on the phone, and at times, traveling to designated fields to perform crop counts. The role requires maintaining and delivering detailed records of interviews, crop counts, mileage, expenditures, and hours worked. The enumerator work is conducted from a residence with an operable telephone free from distractions, and requires maintaining a personal vehicle for travel. NASDA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit association representing agricultural leaders from all fifty states and four U.S. territories, dedicated to growing and enhancing American agriculture. Since 1972, NASDA has collected agricultural data for the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).

Requirements

  • Experience multitasking in an energetic, deadline-oriented work environment.
  • Ability to make crop counts in designated fields.
  • Ability to maintain a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Ability to conduct interviews in person or by telephone with farm operators and other individuals.
  • Knowledge about computers or iPads.
  • Must reside within advertised State.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate good time management in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Organized.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and friendly attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Interview farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural businesses either in person or on the phone.
  • Travel to designated fields to perform crop counts.
  • Maintain and deliver detailed and legible records of interviews, crop counts, mileage, expenditures, and hours worked.
  • Conduct enumerator work from a residence with an operable telephone free from any distractions.
  • Positively represent NASDA and the benefits of enumerators in all survey actions.
