About The Position

The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) is looking to hire a detail-oriented intermittent part-time Field / Phone Enumerator to perform tasks that support our organization. This position involves collecting agricultural data on behalf of the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). The role requires interviewing farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural businesses either in person or on the phone, and at times, traveling to designated fields to perform crop counts. The job also involves maintaining and delivering detailed records of interviews, crop counts, mileage, expenditures, and hours worked. The enumerator work is conducted from a residence with an operable telephone, and a personal vehicle is required for travel. The position offers flexibility and an energetic nature, with something new each day.

Requirements

  • Experience multitasking in an energetic, deadline-oriented work environment.
  • Ability to positively represent NASDA and the benefits of enumerators in all survey actions.
  • Ability to make crop counts in designated fields.
  • Ability to maintain a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Ability to conduct interviews in person or by telephone with farm operators and other individuals.
  • Knowledge about computers or iPads.
  • Candidates must reside within the advertised State (Macon, MO).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate good time management in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated.

  • Ability to maintain a positive and friendly attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Interview farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural businesses either in person or on the phone.
  • Travel to designated fields to perform crop counts.
  • Maintain and deliver detailed and legible records of interviews, crop counts, mileage, expenditures, and hours worked.
  • Conduct enumerator work from a residence with an operable telephone free from any distractions.
  • Maintain a personal vehicle to be ready to travel for field enumerator duties.
