About The Position

The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) is seeking a detail-oriented, intermittent part-time Field / Phone Enumerator to support their organization. This role involves collecting agricultural data on behalf of the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). The enumerator will interview farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural businesses in person or by phone, and may travel to fields to perform crop counts. The position requires maintaining a reliable personal vehicle and conducting work from a residence with an operable telephone free from distractions. NASDA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit association representing agricultural leaders from all fifty states and U.S. territories, founded in 1916 with a mission to grow and enhance American agriculture.

Requirements

• Experience multitasking in an energetic, deadline-oriented work environment
• Ability to positively represent NASDA and the benefits of enumerators in all survey actions
• Ability to make crop counts in designated fields
• Ability to maintain a reliable personal vehicle
• Ability to conduct interviews in person or by telephone with farm operators and other individuals
• Knowledge about computers or iPads
• Candidates must reside within advertised State.

Responsibilities

• Interview farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural businesses either in person or on the phone.
• Travel to designated fields to perform crop counts.
• Maintain and deliver detailed and legible records of interviews, crop counts, mileage, expenditures, and hours worked.
• Conduct enumerator work from a residence with an operable telephone free from any distractions.
• Maintain a personal vehicle to travel for field enumerator duties.
