About The Position

This position is responsible for teaching Agriculture classes to students in grades 9-12 in alignment with applicable state and national standards. Duties include classroom instruction and supervision duties as assigned. This individual must be able to work cooperatively with other members of the staff to provide students with a well-planned, organized instructional program, utilizing effective school practices.

Requirements

  • Current Oregon Teaching License with CTE endorsement in Agriculture
  • Current Oregon Teaching License with endorsement in Biology or ability to obtain
  • Ability to teach Agriculture and/or Natural Resources courses
  • Willingness to meet requirements to maintain a CTE Program of Study in Agriculture
  • Demonstrated, positive classroom management skills
  • Knowledge and skills in instruction / learning methods and techniques
  • Demonstrated behavior management techniques
  • Demonstrated understanding and judgment regarding student safety
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, administrators, students, parents, and patrons
  • Ability to meet the Junction City School District Standards of Competent Teacher Performance and the Oregon Standards for Professional Educators
  • Responsible to know, understand, and adhere to school rules and District policy

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CTE Program of Study Management & Reporting
  • Experience with Advising FFA (Future Farmers of America)
  • Knowledge and experience in teacher effectiveness, effective school practices, and discipline techniques
  • Knowledge and experience with proficiency-based teaching and learning, and standards-based grading
  • Ability to evaluate and convey the educational strengths and needs of students to parents and teachers
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a current first aid / CPR card
  • Willingness to immerse in the culture and traditions of JCHS
  • Willingness to coach and / or advise clubs
