About The Position

TalentFish is seeking an Agricultural Banker for a direct hire, full-time position. The Agricultural Banker is responsible for originating, underwriting, and closing agricultural loans. This role involves building and maintaining relationships with agricultural customers and other financial institutions. The position reports to the incumbent's manager.

Requirements

  • Knowledge, skill, and work experience in Agricultural Banking equivalent to the completion of a college education, including specific coursework in agricultural lending, agribusiness, and communications.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers and co-workers both face-to-face and by telephone.
  • Demonstrated tact, diplomacy, and professionalism when working with customers and co-workers.
  • Strong analytical, statistical, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written communication, proofreading, and editing skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships within the agricultural and local business community.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the full range of duties pertaining to the credit function, including agricultural loans and leases, in support of overall loan department objectives and established lending policies and practices.
  • Receive and screen loan applications; request credit status, banking and other references; conduct on-site inspections; order appraisals; and complete other required due diligence.
  • Correspond with or interview applicants or creditors to resolve questions regarding loan applications.
  • Analyze applicants' financial status, credit, and property evaluations to determine the feasibility of granting loan requests.
  • Approve loans within specified authority limits.
  • Refer larger loan requests to the loan committee for approval.
  • Communicate loan decisions to applicants, including the rationale for decisions, and ensure necessary supporting documentation is prepared.
  • Review and evaluate customer applications for lines of credit and line-of-credit extensions, authorizing or recommending approval in accordance with established guidelines and policies.
  • Direct and participate in the closing of approved agricultural loan agreements and ensure all required closing documents are prepared and processed.
  • Monitor and review assigned agricultural loans on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Identify problem or delinquent loan accounts, or accounts having an adverse impact on profitability, and initiate appropriate corrective actions on a timely basis.
  • Complete criticized asset action plan forms and refer problem accounts to management as required.
  • Participate in the Lending Call Program to establish and maintain relationships with businesses, realtors, developers, and other potential loan customers.
  • Provide information regarding lending programs and services.
  • Keep abreast of new developments and trends within the agricultural loan market.
  • Identify potential lending opportunities and participate in the development and implementation of plans and programs to respond to those opportunities.
  • Participate in establishing lending goals and profitability objectives and in developing and implementing policies and procedures to support achievement of those goals.
  • Recommend new policies or policy revisions as needed to improve efficiency and control.
  • Assist co-workers with difficult internal matters and customer inquiries or problems, ensuring prompt and courteous responses.
  • Assist in the development of manuals and supporting documentation related to responsibilities of the position.
  • Maintain professional expertise through attendance at job-related seminars, conferences, and workshops and through involvement in professional, civic, and community groups in leadership positions.
  • Utilize government programs when deemed necessary to meet customers' credit needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
