About The Position

Gwillimdale Farms is a dynamic, family-run business that grows, packs, and ships premium, locally grown produce across Canada and the United States. They are expanding their operations and are looking for one Agricultural Heavy Equipment Technician to join their team at their headquarters. This role requires the ability to work both outdoors and in the shop, adapting to seasonal demands, especially during peak spring and fall periods. Flexibility is key to servicing and maintaining all equipment to prevent breakdowns through pre-harvest and post-harvest inspections. Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience.
  • Comprehend and interpret technical service manuals and schematics.
  • Consistent troubleshooting skills in electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Operate vehicle and equipment safely in the service shop and in the field.
  • Ability to work seasonally extended hours during the week or weekends.
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds as required without assistance.

Nice To Haves

  • Qualified and/or certified Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (421A) / Agricultural Equipment Technician (425A) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment such as harvesters, tractors, soil preparation equipment, seed drills, mowers, diggers, transplanters, utility vehicles, and various farm equipment attachments/implements.
  • Inspect and repair equipment with faults and malfunctions.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine the extent of repair required.
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems using hand and power tools.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure work meets manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Maintain attachments and working tools such as tillage, planting irrigation, plows, discs, loaders, bale spears, root grapples, pallet forks, mowers, shredders, cultivators, wagons, and trailers to manufacturing specifications.
  • Perform repair work on heavy equipment, devices, and tools, and assist the truck mechanic.
  • Inspect and test the operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults using pneumatic, mechanical, and electronic testing devices and precision measuring instruments.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance work and complete test and maintenance reports.
  • Perform Lockout procedures.
  • Perform welding duties.
  • Maintain housekeeping of the work area as required.
