About The Position

This position is a seasonal role with an anticipated start date, end date and number of hours per week/month as outlined below. Employment is tied to seasonal business demands and is not guaranteed beyond the seasonal period. While there may be opportunities for other or intermittent hours outside of the stated period, any such hours are contingent upon business needs, workload, and operational requirements and do not change the seasonal nature of the position. This position does not carry a guarantee of minimum hours or continued employment beyond the seasonal term. This will be a temporary, part-time and hourly position for employment related to the 2026 Oklahoma State Fair. No other benefits, except those required by law, apply. Applications will continue to be accepted until position has been filled.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of animal husbandry, animal welfare and experience within animal industries.
  • Must be comfortable working in close proximity with sows, goats, sheep, chickens, rabbits, and cattle.
  • Must be willing and able to frequently walk through all areas of OEH 2 to inspect and review animal well-being.
  • Assess situations and communicate effectively with appropriate designated official if an immediate need is present.
  • Fully commit to work the entire duration of the 2026 Oklahoma State Fair, September 17-27.
  • Have access to daily, reliable transportation.
  • Be positive, enthusiastic and cooperative.
  • Maintain a friendly, professional, calm demeanor in all situations.
  • Be flexible as job instructions may change from time to time.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully in English (speak, read, write).
  • Maintain a high standard of appearance and grooming (i.e., clean, wrinkle free clothing, proper uniform/attire, close attention to personal hygiene).
  • Comfortable, closed toe shoes are required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as overnight building attendant in the Oklahoma Expo Hall (OEH) encompassing the following areas: OEH 1 – 4-H competitions and displays, OEH 2 – AGtropolis/Barnyard Birthing Center exhibits and displays (including live animal exhibits requiring specific/specialized attention), OEH 3 – FFA competitions and displays.
  • Perform consistent reviews of the animals and displays in this building, verifying security of exterior doors after building is closed each night and communicating as necessary with AGtropolis Superintendent or AgriBusiness Coordinators.
  • Serve as liaison between AGtropolis/Barnyard Birthing Center Superintendent, OSF Managers and/or veterinary staff of OVMA (Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association).
  • Assist in other departments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
