Agile Coach

ON.energyHouston, TX

About The Position

ON.energy is building the power infrastructure that makes the AI era possible. As AI demand surges past what the grid and traditional data centers can support, ON.energy provides a new class of power technology proven at gigawatt scale and trusted by the world’s leading cloud and AI companies. Our systems are already deployed across 2.5 GW of hyper-scale campuses, validated by top U.S. national labs, and certified for grid-safe operation by major utilities. With real products in the field, we’re scaling faster than the grid can, transforming power from a bottleneck into a competitive advantage for the companies building the future. ON.energy is seeking an Agile Coach to support the Software (IT) organization under the Senior Director of Software. This role drives agile execution across four interdependent teams: Quality Assurance, Cybersecurity, DevOps (Cloud and Data Engineering), and IT, owning the flow of work raised by external stakeholders into each team's internal backlog, safeguarding the integrity of agile practices across the group's managers, and partnering with those managers to keep priorities aligned as business and security needs shift. The ideal candidate is equal parts facilitator, process steward, and cross-functional coordinator who can operate effectively without direct authority over the people they coach.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, Agile Coach, Agile Project Manager, or in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated, hands-on experience managing issue and ticket workflows in Azure DevOps (ADO).
  • Strong working knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, and broader agile frameworks.
  • Strong technical understanding of software delivery, QA processes, cybersecurity workflows, and DevOps/cloud practices, enough to triage issues, scope and prioritize work, and communicate credibly with engineers across these disciplines. The role does not require hands-on software development.
  • Proven ability to coach and influence managers and peers without direct authority.
  • Excellent organizational, facilitation, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Agile Coach, PSM, or equivalent agile certification.
  • Experience in a technical software environment spanning QA, security, and cloud/data engineering.
  • Experience coordinating across multiple, functionally distinct technical teams simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with reporting and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI) for tracking delivery metrics.
  • Exposure to cybersecurity frameworks, cloud infrastructure (Azure/AWS), or data engineering pipelines is a plus.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the single point of accountability for all issue tickets raised by teams outside the Software organization, including business units, field operations, vendors, and customers.
  • Triage, categorize, and ensure every external ticket is accurately mapped to a corresponding internal work item across QA, Cybersecurity, DevOps, or IT, maintaining clear and auditable traceability between the two.
  • Maintain data integrity within Azure DevOps, the team's ticketing system, ensuring no external request is lost, duplicated, or left unlinked.
  • Track external tickets through to resolution and communicate status back to the originating team.
  • Ensure all Software team managers and leads consistently and correctly apply agile and Scrum practices.
  • Coach managers on agile principles, ceremonies, and artifacts; identify deviations from the established methodology and work with leaders to correct them.
  • Facilitate core Scrum events (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives) so they deliver value rather than overhead.
  • Define, monitor, and report on agile health metrics such as velocity, cycle time, and backlog hygiene to surface process gaps early.
  • Partner closely with the QA, Cybersecurity, DevOps, and IT managers to continuously evaluate and reprioritize the backlog as conditions change, including urgent security or compliance-driven work that can disrupt planned sprints.
  • Facilitate transparent trade-off discussions when priorities conflict, balancing urgency, team capacity, and business value.
  • Translate shifting priorities into clear, actionable adjustments across each team's sprints and backlog.
  • Act as a neutral coordinator across managers to keep the group aligned and focused on the highest-value work.
  • Remove impediments and shield teams from disruption so members can focus on delivery.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Champion transparency through clear, up-to-date dashboards and reporting.
