About The Position

As a valued member of our team, the Plant Tech 1 Operator will be reporting to the shift supervisor to ensure the daily, efficient operation of the plant. You will perform a variety of tasks as per this job description and as assigned.

Requirements

  • Effective communication skills & strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Familiar with MSHA and CALOSHA regulations.
  • Must have a strong team-oriented work ethic with strong focus on safety and environmental compliance.
  • Able to work well with others.
  • Must be able to follow oral, written plans and directions.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Related experience preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Complete area inspections and report by completing the daily plant expecting form and turn into the Foreman and/or Site Manager.
  • Understand and follow directions from supervisors as to required work area.
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s Safety Program and encourage all employees, sub-contractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
  • Monitor and maintain conveyor system.
  • Shovel and remove debris from conveyor system.
  • Grease and lube pulleys, rollers, head frames, etc.
  • Splice and patch belting as needed.
  • Operate support equipment such as a skid steer, forklift, man lift and / or dump truck to aid in completion of tasks.
  • Inspect equipment prior to shift for safety, environmental and maintenance defects by completing the daily plant expecting form and turn into the Foreman and site Manager.
  • Monitor ground conditions in the area you are maintaining.
  • Complete daily pre/ post / shift inspections - report as needed to Foreman and Site Manager.
  • Maintain adequate cleanliness of equipment- report any defects to Foreman and Site Manager.
  • Monitor environmental compliance (dust) of area.
  • Perform housekeeping (clean, shovel, remove trash and debris) to ensure a safe, clean and complaint operation. Ensure site remains compliant with all MSHA, CALOSHA and EPA standards.
  • Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required.
  • Assist the Plant Lead with the daily operations and upkeep of the plant.
  • Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
  • Detect safety hazards and malfunctions and respond accordingly.
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow directions.
  • Assist in replacing motors, idlers, pulleys, v-belts, couplings, bearings, gear boxes, etc.
  • Inspect wear items on equipment & report as needed to Foreman and Site Manager.
  • Perform other duties as outlined by Foreman and/or Site Manager.
