About The Position

The Aggregate Plant Laborer is responsible for safely performing a variety of duties at the plant. This role involves maintaining the yard and plant, keeping it neat and free from debris, and potentially being trained to operate equipment like forklifts and loaders. The laborer will also be involved in cleaning and shoveling materials around conveyors and performing general housekeeping in various facility areas. Additionally, the position requires assisting with cleaning parts, material, and equipment, and performing other tasks as assigned by the Plant Manager, while always adhering to plant rules and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting
  • Be available for overtime, extended hours and weekends as required
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Proper PPE is required at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of aggregate production and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements is preferred
  • Familiarity with MSHA regulations a plus
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Shovel, sweep, lift and climb within the yard
  • Maintain the yard and plant, keeping it neat and free from debris
  • May be trained to operate forklift, loader, etc.
  • Shovel and clean stone, gravel, sand from around conveyors
  • Shovel material onto conveyors
  • General housekeeping in the pit, plant, and quarry facilities
  • Assist with cleaning parts, material, and equipment
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Plant Manager
  • Always adhere to all plant rules and regulations and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety policy, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
  • Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
  • Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
  • Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required.
