About The Position

Agency Staff Services Analyst I: Under direction, to perform a variety of administrative and fiscal analysis work and participate in special studies or projects; to perform related work as required. Agency Staff Services Analyst II: Under direction, to perform data analyses, develop data collection systems, assess, and disseminate information, participate in special studies or projects, and develop policy implications/recommendations of analyzed information; to perform related work as required.

Requirements

  • Agency Staff Services Analyst I: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND journey level clerical experience. Supervisory experience or experience providing program management recommendations may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Agency Staff Services Analyst II: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND one (1) year of experience equivalent to an Agency Staff Services Analyst I with Shasta County.
  • Knowledge of: General public and business administration practices; governmental functions and organization; principles and practices of the functional areas germane to this specialized position.
  • Ability to: Gather and analyze data; identify problems and central issues; reason logically; perform and document research in dealing with administrative issues; read and interpret operating procedures and regulations; recommend and implement changes; speak and write effectively; establish effective working relationships with those contacted during the course of work; work independently and accept increasing responsibility.
  • Knowledge of: General public and business administration practices; governmental functions and organization; principles and practices of the functional areas germane to this specialized position; data collection methodology and statistical analysis; and assessment, policy analysis, and program and outcome evaluations.
  • Ability to: Gather and analyze data; identify problems and central issues; reason logically; perform and document research in dealing with administrative issues; read and interpret legislation, policies, operating procedures, and regulations; recommend and implement changes; speak and write effectively; establish effective working relationships with those contacted during the course of work; operate a personal computer, including word processing, statistical analysis, database, graphics presentation, and electronic file transfer software packages; maintain confidentiality, prioritize work independently, manage personal stress, accept increasing responsibility; and actively promote the mission of the department to which assigned.

Nice To Haves

  • The ideal candidate needs to have experience in the following areas: editing/redacting video, photos, and audio, be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite; specifically, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Power BI, and Teams. Have excellent customer service skills and be able to help staff with computer, phone, and miscellaneous technology issues. This position will also help to tabulate data for statistics, error clean up and have critical thinking skills to help research/solve issues in any of the programs that we use in the District Attorney's Office. An ideal candidate needs to be a self-starter, very organized, work well under a deadline, and have at least one year of clerical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares reports and makes recommendations on procedures, policies, and program alternatives
  • Makes recommendations on financial, personnel, client, and other administrative systems

  • Collects, enters, validates, extracts, and analyzes data on current issues of concern

  • Develops "user-friendly" reports or otherwise prepares data for dissemination
  • Conducts reviews of program data to assess outcome impact and cost effectiveness
  • Assists department staff in gathering and entering information into data systems
  • Works with and assists in maintaining the integrity and reliability of existing database or other software programs, to analyze, collect and display information
  • Plans and develops software applications to link programs
  • May assist in improving the Departments ability to assess outcomes
  • Participates in program evaluation study design and implementation
  • Conducts reviews of existing programs to assess outcome impact, work load distribution, or cost-effectiveness
  • May make recommendations on financial, personnel, client, program, community or administrative systems, as assigned
  • Prepares correspondence and may assist in the development or preparation of proposals for state, federal or private foundations
  • May assist in the supervision of staff
