About The Position

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire an Agency Management Analyst in our Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division at State Police Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to: Supervising the Background Check Section within the Central Criminal Records Exchange (CCRE), ensuring all program activities comply with applicable laws and regulations, including Code of Virginia §19.2-§389 and the National Child Protection Act/Volunteers for Children Act (NCPA/VCA). Governing criminal history record information and background checks for both criminal justice and non-criminal justice entities. Serving as the program’s subject matter expert, providing guidance on statutory requirements and procedural workflows. Ensuring continuity of operations by training staff, documenting processes, and identifying opportunities for workflow improvement. Supporting program management by generating basic metric dashboards, compiling routine statistics, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate accurate and timely information exchange.

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of related state and federal laws.
  • Working knowledge of research and analysis techniques.
  • Working knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of data entry environment, proper grammar/punctuation, and records research.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal criminal history databases such as Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC).
  • Skill in the operation of computers, using Microsoft Office applications, and databases to access and retrieve data and records.
  • Skill in organization and time management.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply research and analytical methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, collect, and analyze data for various statistical reports and provide analysis to management.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and update databases, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent logical decisions, and recommendations; to coordinate, supervise, and train staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policy.

  • Ability to compose correspondence.
  • Works, at a minimum, 75% of the assigned overtime to address peak workload.
  • Experience working in customer service.
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
  • Must be eligible to become Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certified, which requires either United States citizenship or a lawful permanent resident of the United States and eligible for naturalization.
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
