About The Position
This position will serve as the Agency Legal Counsel for the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). The OCIO is responsible for providing enterprise IT services, implementing technology solutions that support the activities of state government and political subdivisions while maximizing value for the State of Nebraska. The Office of the Chief Information Officer does not sponsor STEM or non-immigrant work visas for this position.
Requirements
- Five years of experience practicing law and providing legal services such as preparing and trying cases, advising clients, and/or interpreting laws and/or administrative policies, including one year of supervising other attorneys.
- Must be admitted to the Nebraska Bar.
Nice To Haves
- 1-2 years serving as a General Counsel or Assistant General Counsel to State or Federal Agency.
- Knowledge of Nebraska's legislative process or political experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Confer with the agency senior leadership, other agency administrators, local government officials, associated or assigned agency legal staff members, and other interested parties to exchange and prepare information on legal/administrative actions or issues.
- Advise agency management and other government officials on the stipulations of program legislation and the legal impact of agency plans and operations to assist in the attainment of agency goals and objectives with statutory requirements.
- Recommend and review draft legislation, agency policies, and procedural statements to provide legal or administrative options to agency management according to statutory authority.
- Perform all other duties assigned within the scope of the classification.
