About The Position

The AGE Mechanic supports an Aircraft Ground Equipment (AGE)/Ground Support Equipment (GSE) shop, ensuring the timely and proper performance of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on AGE/GSE equipment and light support vehicles. This role involves inspecting, testing, and operating AGE/GSE to determine serviceability and proper operation, diagnosing mechanical and electrical circuitry malfunctions, and interpreting technical data for repairs and modifications. The mechanic will identify and order necessary replacement parts, perform disassembly, repair, cleaning, and reassembly of AGE/GSE components, and service equipment with necessary fluids and air. Additionally, the role includes operating, cleaning, inspecting, and servicing AGE/GSE tow vehicles, maintaining equipment records, and positioning equipment to support aircraft operations. Adherence to safety procedures and technical orders is paramount. The position reports to the Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of AGE/GSE maintenance experience required.
  • Must be able to inspect, repair, and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Passport.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust US Government Clearance.
  • US Citizenship is required to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains Aviation Support Equipment (AvSE).
  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on AGE/GSE.
  • Inspects, tests, and operates AGE/GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.
  • Services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air.
  • Diagnoses mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using various methods and tools.
  • Disassembles and assembles malfunctioning AGE/GSE accessories and components.
  • Removes, disassembles, repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and reinstalls AGE/GSE components and accessories.
  • Stencils and marks AGE/GSE in accordance with technical publications.
  • Stores, handles, labels, uses, and disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with environmental standards and regulations.
  • Prepares AGE/GSE for storage and mobility deployment.
  • Operates, cleans, inspects, and services AGE/GSE towing vehicles.
  • Maintains and updates paper and electronic equipment records.
  • Provides dispatch service for AGE/GSE, including positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations.
  • Practices good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety at all times.
  • Schedules PMIs as required.
  • Adheres to safety procedures, and follows technical orders, as applicable.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
