About The Position

Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics (AGUA) is seeking an experienced, energetic, and committed Part-Time Age Group Coach to assist lead coaches with AGUA practices, meets, training, and team activities. This role supports the development of age group swimmers by helping reinforce AGUA’s established training curriculum, maintaining strong lane management, supporting athletes on deck, and contributing to a positive, focused, and inclusive team environment. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, a team-oriented coach, and someone who is committed to AGUA’s core values, goals, and mission. This role requires weekday availability starting at 4:00 PM and may include participation in home meets, local meets, team-building events, and other team functions as needed. AGUA’s Age Group Coaches play an important role in helping swimmers grow as athletes and individuals. This role supports athlete development, practice quality, team culture, and consistency across AGUA’s training groups. By assisting lead coaches and reinforcing the team’s curriculum, the Part-Time Age Group Coach helps create a strong, structured, and supportive environment for swimmers to improve, compete, and build confidence. The coach also helps uphold AGUA’s commitment to excellence, inclusion, sportsmanship, and long-term athlete development.

Requirements

  • 2 or more years of coaching experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong lane management skills.
  • Ability to coach on deck on weekdays starting at 4:00 PM.
  • Ability to assist lead coaches and follow established training plans.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff, swimmers, families, and program leadership.
  • Commitment to AGUA’s core values, goals, and mission.
  • Ability to participate in home meets and local meets as required.
  • Ability to participate in team-building and social functions as needed.
  • Membership in good standing with USA Swimming.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist lead coaches during AGUA practices at the Upper East Side campus.
  • Support age group swimmers during practices, training sessions, and team activities.
  • Help implement and reinforce AGUA’s established training curriculum.
  • Provide clear instruction, feedback, and encouragement to swimmers.
  • Support proper technique, training habits, effort, focus, and team expectations.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and disciplined practice environment.
  • Encourage athlete growth, confidence, sportsmanship, and accountability.
  • Maintain strong lane management during practices.
  • Help organize swimmers, intervals, drills, sets, and practice flow as directed by lead coaches.
  • Support safe and effective on-deck coaching.
  • Reinforce expectations around attendance, effort, behavior, and team culture.
  • Communicate swimmer needs, progress, and concerns to lead coaches when appropriate.
  • Help ensure practices run smoothly, safely, and consistently.
  • Collaborate with AGUA coaching staff to support team goals and training plans.
  • Follow guidance from lead coaches and program leadership.
  • Participate in coaching discussions, team planning, and program communication as needed.
  • Support a consistent coaching approach across training groups.
  • Represent AGUA and Asphalt Green professionally with swimmers, families, staff, and meet officials.
  • Participate in home meets and local meets as required.
  • Support swimmers during meets, warmups, races, and team activities.
  • Assist with meet-day communication, organization, and athlete support.
  • Participate in team-building and social functions as needed.
  • Help foster a strong team environment and positive athlete experience.
