On the Road Ag Service Technician- Big Flats
About The Position
Independently performs complex diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural and turf equipment. This role may require some direction or guidance from the Service Manager, Service Location Manager, or Shop Foreman. The technician will perform diagnostics and repairs on John Deere equipment and technology, mentor Service Technician Trainees and Service Technicians, and conduct or support customer clinics. Field repairs are also a part of this role, as is accountability for billable time and assigned work orders. Thorough documentation of diagnostics and repairs on work orders and timely submission of information are essential. Participation in Service EDUCATE Training programs for skill and knowledge development is expected. The role also involves operating and maintaining vehicles, tools, and equipment, maintaining a clean work area, and adhering to all safety rules and regulations. Staying current with John Deere and competitive product knowledge is crucial.
Requirements
- Performing service repairs.
- Performing repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures on machines of the Technician's specialty.
- Experience with the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in off road, construction, lawn, or heavy equipment.
- Experience operating vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
- Experience with basic computer functions.
- Experience working cooperatively in a team environment.
- Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
- Must have an adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Time Management skills.
Nice To Haves
- Demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics.
- Experience using Service ADVISOR or other computer based diagnostic repair tools.
- Associate’s degree.
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License).
