INTERN AG & COMMERCIAL LENDING
About The Position
Under the dual supervision of the Conrad Branch Manager and the staff at the Conrad Stockman Office, incumbent will begin training as an Ag & Commercial Lending Intern. Position will support the agricultural and commercial lending functions through servicing it as needed to ensure maximum profitability for the Bank. The Ag & Commercial Lending Intern has extensive in-person and telephone contact and conducts relationships in a manner that will enhance the professionalism, community focus, and overall marketing effort of the Bank. This internship provides an orientation to community banking through observation, exposure to regulatory compliance, and participation in day-to-day activities in several key departments: Operations/Teller, Customer Service, Commercial Lending, and Stockman Wealth Management. Other departments may be added if found to be beneficial to the internship.
Requirements
- Applicants should be entering their junior or senior year in Finance, Accounting or Economics at an accredited university.
- Interested in a community banking career.
- Intelligent, detail oriented, analytical, and willing to collaborate.
- Professional with demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess a working knowledge and proficiency with office programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Successful completion of a standard background check.
Responsibilities
- Support agricultural and commercial lending functions.
- Service lending functions as needed to ensure maximum profitability for the Bank.
- Engage in extensive in-person and telephone contact, conducting relationships in a manner that enhances professionalism, community focus, and the Bank's marketing effort.
- Gain exposure to regulatory compliance.
- Participate in day-to-day activities in Operations/Teller, Customer Service, Commercial Lending, and Stockman Wealth Management departments.
- Perform Teller duties including customer service, complying with banking regulations and procedures, maintaining protection of Bank assets and customer information, performing basic paying and receiving functions, balancing cash, debits, and credits, and performing a variety of reconciliations.
- Perform Customer Service Representative duties including developing a thorough knowledge of all accounts, services, and products, resolving customer account problems, gathering and verifying data for reports, accepting wires, transfers, stop payments or address changes, and ordering checks, ATM and debit cards.
- Assist Commercial Lending Officers and gain an introduction to the extension of credit and applicable regulations.
- Complete project work to broaden knowledge of commercial and consumer lending in a community bank environment.
- Perform financial statement input and analysis.
- Review documentation and credit files.
- Prepare draft credit displays.
- Assist with all aspects of relationship management.
- Gain knowledge of the decision process through participation in loan committee and lender training.
- Be exposed to investment activities, wealth management strategies, and policies.
- Engage in professional interaction with clients.
- Prepare prospect proposals.
- Review forms, disclosures, and marketing material for regulatory compliance.
- Support management decisions and goals in a positive, professional manner.
